Julia Hayden is an award winning Asian American performing artist and filmmaker. She is based in San Francisco, California where she studies film at Freestyle Academy. Julia has spent much of her time on stage or on screen in short films from a young age and was recently named “Best Female Filmmaker” for her film “the moon a train away” at the April 2024 Sweden Film Awards.

To photograph a person I am close to is a real privilege, but capturing a person with such a big personality presents itself as a desire to encapsulate as much of themselves as possible. This continues to be a goal of mine through every shoot.
